EXPERIENCE

Freelance Business
My whole career I have done freelance work, but in December 2008, I started my own freelance business. The highlight has been working as a Strategic Partner with Happy Cog on projects for clients such as Change.org, Intuit, EllisLabs/ExpressionEngine and ADP. Most recently created the UI/UX and visual design for ADP web applications. I have also worked with Quicken Loans creating UI/UX for sites, HTML emails, newspaper ads and banner ads. I told you I'm versatile!

  • Designed the new BlogTalkRadio web site
  • Coded major pages with web standards and valid CSS
  • Drastically improved and optimized search engine results
  • Implemented jQuery coded AJAX events

TNS, Creative Director
February 2002 - July 2008
As in-house Creative Director for the 2nd largest market research firm in the world, I got the opportunity to work in nearly every aspect of design by carrying out a brand strategy with print collateral and advertising, web sites, intranet sites, annual reports, marketing campaigns, events, commercials and even blasted Powerpoint templates. I also led a small team of designers both in-house and freelancers and with agencies like Wolf Olins and VSA Partners.

ePrize, Design Technologist
August, 2000 - September 2001
Created online sweepstakes for top clients like Sony, NY Times, Orbitz, Mastercard, Chrysler, etc. Worked closely with our Creative Director to create online sweepstakes and Flash products like eWheel (slot-machine style game) and eScratch-Off (scratch-off lotto style tickets).

Other Experience
I was the lead designer for the daily newspaper, The South End in college. We would create copy blocks and ads in Quark and then print and paste them and then send out to be printed. I loved that transition from print to web.

My first “real” job was in 1998 working for then Mercy Hospitals as Senior Web Designer. I created the template for each of the 40 hospitals to use online and created Mercynet, their first intranet. Mercy is now known as Trinity Health Systems. I miss the 6 weeks paid vacation and the monthly visit by the nuns in habits!

I also worked very briefly for Merrill Lynch in their Usability Labs in Princeton, NJ testing UX for web sites to ATM machines.
